Sinopsis / Synopsis
Después de la larga y en extremo cruel guerra civil, los habitantes del noroccidente de Guatemala, han optado por el olvido y el silencio, quizás como una herramienta de subsistencia. Sin embargo, el ejercicio de recordar y narrar lo ocurrido, también es una opción para vivir con el pasado. Este documental recupera algunas de las historias pertenecientes a la memoria colectiva de esos años.
Between the years 1979 and 1985, Guatemala's civil war turned the country into Dante's inferno. The strategy of quitarle el agua al pez — that is, to eliminate the fish by eliminating the water, the fish being the guerrillas and the water the civilian population – turned the population inhabiting the conflict zone (North of Guatemala) into the main target.
As a response, dwellers of jungles and mountains reshaped their space, their way of living, and their way of thinking in order to resist the immense military offensives destined to terminate them.
